Frequently Asked Questions
VENDORS AND BUSINESSES
Can my food truck / craft business / non-profit group participate?
We don’t organize food or vendors, just porches and musicians. Some porch hosts invite food trucks or other vendors to sell from their properties, but that is all arranged and managed by individuals.
Can my business host a band?
We only place bands on residential porches.
PORCHES AND BANDS
Can I have the afterparty at my place?
We can’t endorse or host any events after 5 pm. Our permits and all Porchfest events stop at 5 pm.
Can I put out my own advertising for my porch/band and can I get your logo for my own posters?
We will be posting a brand package soon for you to download logos for the current year. Feel free to make your own posters and images to post on your social media pages. However, we ask that you not start your own Facebook event but invite people to join the official event. This helps us pass on current and accurate information and maps to the public.
HOW TO PORCHFEST
Do I need a ticket?
No tickets, just walk / ride on in!
Porchfest is free.. but how can I contribute?
#1 Tip the bands! Bring cash and many bands will have a QR code to Venmo.
#2 If you want to help sponsor the event to help us get bathrooms, etc. you can check out our Sponsorship page
I’m new this year, what should I bring?
Water, sunscreen, a small chair or blanket to sit on, and cash to tip the bands are all great things to have on hand at Porchfest!
How do I get around?
We highly recommend parking outside of the boundaries (MJC Parking lot will be open) and walking or riding a bike in the Porchfest zone. Another great option is to come in an Uber/Lyft. Many people like to rent/bring a golf cart. If you drive inside the boundaries, parking will be limited and there are bicycles and pedestrians everywhere so proceed with caution.
How do I plan my day?
We will post a map and a schedule here on the website a week or two before Porchfest. You can print out the schedule, highlight your favorites (bands will have genres listed next to them), and try to get to as many porches as you would like!
Where can I find a bathroom, food, and drinks?
Bathrooms will be open at the parks, and we will have porta-poties marked on our maps. Please do not ask our porch hosts to use their bathrooms. Some porches host food vendors or have water or lemonade available. You can visit a local restaurant or pack in your own.
Is this a child-friendly event?
Yes! All bands have agreed to play a family-friendly set.
Where can I find Porchfest merch?
We will have a pre-sale approximately two weeks before the event (tenatively May 4th at the Queen Bean), and will have shirts and hats for sale on the day-of. We do sell out, so we recommend getting your merch at the pre-sale if possible.
